Andrew Kingston
I am a statistical epidemiologist from the North East. My work is about ageing, multimorbidity, disability, care need, health expectancy and health inequalities, but Gerostats is deliberately more personal than a work profile.
Why Gerostats exists
Some analyses need more room than a figure caption, but less ceremony than a journal article. Gerostats is where I can write in my own voice about public statistics, familiar places and the moment when a clean estimate stops feeling abstract.
I think of it as a digital garden rather than a conventional blog: data stories, methods, equations, teaching tools and local notes planted together so they can cross-pollinate over time.
What belongs here
The site is built for ageing, care, disability, health expectancy, deprivation and place-based inequality. It is also for the personal part of the work: being a Geordie, recognising the names on a map, and asking what those differences mean for real lives.
